WHAT IS Concrete Scanning?

Concrete scanning is the process of using ground penetrating radar to clear concrete areas from hidden dangers prior to saw cutting or core drilling. We can determine key slab information for Structural Engineers, including rebar and post-tension spacing and depth, concrete cover and overlay thickness, concrete thickness, and even dowel placement. Our Ground Penetrating Radar is capable of scanning complete concrete structures, we are not limited by size for structural analysis.

Concrete scanning is done by trained professionals on commercial, residential and industrial job sites, including concrete slabs, concrete posts and concrete walls. Specialized Testing will not only provide concrete scanning services but core drilling as well.

Field Services

HOW WE DO Concrete Scanning

First, a concrete scanning technician will visit the job site and identify the physical area to be scanned. Second, the area which may contain hidden cables, electrical wires or rebar will be identified by outlining a grid pattern on the floor, wall or column. Next, the technician will pass a ground penetrating radar device over each section of the area grid while noting the presence of any hidden obstructions.

Serving Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino, and Riverside County we are committed to providing our services in a timely and professional manner. We pick up all sample specimens within 48-hours of notification and aim to provide lab results within three days of initial test.
